Responsible Visitor Charter

7 things you can do to help us sustain our environment...

We manage the gardens organically, have 5 electric car charging points (including bespoke Tesla chargers), purchase locally wherever possible and have installed 3 biomass boilers to generate the hotel's electricity.

We continue working to make Budock Vean even more eco-friendly, but we need your help. We can all reduce our impact on the environment by making choices. As a visitor you have a very important role to play in helping us to conserve our natural assets and become a more sustainable destination. Here are our recommended tips on how you can help:

  • Conserve energy
Reduce energy by switching off lights, TV and closing windows if heating is on.

  • Have a break from the car
Leave the car behind, if only for a day. Walk, cycle or use public transport. We will happily provide you with advice.

  • Shop local
We use local produce which gives you a flavour of Cornwall and helps support local communities. Take a look at the village shops in Mawnan Smith, including the Blacksmiths, with a selection of unique crafts.  Also, visit our Natural Health Spa to see our range of British made products from the leading skincare brand Elemis.

  • Reduce, reuse, recycle
Recycling bags and bins are available for your use in your bedroom. We would also be more than happy to recycle any other products e.g. batteries on your behalf. Please speak to Reception for more information.

  • Be water wise
The UK has rising costs for water treatments and flood defence so please use water wisely.

  • Respect nature
Help us to look after the landscape and wildlife by not littering, guarding against fire and using footpaths.

To plan your journey without your car visit the Traveline website. They have up to date timetables to make the most of public transport whilst staying with us.

We have recently installed more electric car-charging points for plug-in cars, including Tesla chargers. Guests at the hotel are welcome to use these points completely free of charge, including day visitors.
