If you, or your holiday-ing companions, fancy getting active there are a wealth of activities you can enjoy on site at this Country House Hotel … and opportunities to explore this beautiful part of the world on land and at sea, read on to find out more.

Golf

Budock Vean has it’s own 9 hole, 18 tee parkland golf course which wraps around the eastern side of the hotel’s  grounds. Golf is included in your stay at Budock Vean so if you know the ropes all you need to do is to book a tee-time.  If it’s been a few years and you’re feeling rusty, our resident golf pros Tony and Chris are on hand for some expert tuition. Give them a call to chat through what you need and they can let you know costs. Day visitors and players are welcome, again a quick call to the golf shop will give you all the info you need. 01326 252102

Tennis

Just across from the hotel’s main entrance are 2 all weather tennis courts, again, use of the courts is all included in your stay. We have 2 tennis coaches on speed dial if anyone wants to book for lessons otherwise go and give it your best Wimbledon!

Swimming

Our indoor pool is an impressive 50m long and has a knock-your-socks off wooden roof that is itself a thing of beauty. The large swimming hall is also home to a beautiful open fire, sauna and has access to the outdoor hot tub which overlooks the gardens – it’s glorious.

Wild Swimming

Of course, if you’re feeling brave you can swim at the hotel’s foreshore down in the Helford River, (so long as you check the tides!). We have an open water swimming instructor you can call if you would like to book to have someone with you.

Kayaking

Our team down at the hotel’s foreshore run kayaking adventures every day except Sunday or if the tide is out all day (which can happen!).  Armed with life jackets and paddles you’ll set off with a guide to explore the beautiful coves, nooks and crannies of the Helford River with plenty of wildlife and fun along the way.

Stand-up Paddleboarding

Our kayaking team also run paddleboarding adventures. Perhaps more challenging than kayaking the paddleboards demand beautiful balance as you travel around from the hotel’s foreshore. It’s a great experience and a wonderful way to get close to the river.

Boat Trips

If you prefer to stay dry but would like to explore the river you can book onto a trip on the hotel’s boat, the HannahMolly. Piloted by one of our experienced team, you’ll enjoy a tour, wildlife spotting and a chance to take a closer look at the ancient forest that lines the river … depending on conditions and tide times you may make it to Frenchman’s Creek of Daphne Du Maurier fame.

Ebikes

We won’t lie, it’s pretty hilly around the hotel so ebikes are a gift if you want to get out exploring on 2 wheels. The hotel has bikes to hire via ebikecornwall with recommended circular routes taking in South Helford (via the local ferry), Falmouth and the picturesque villages of Flushing and Mylor.

Croquet

Never had a go? Talk to our team at Reception who can point you in the direction of the kit and give you the instructions ready so you can try your hand at this beautiful lawn game that stems all the way back to 1856.

What’s more … if you’re local these activities are available to book for day use too, give our reception team a call on 01326 250288 or email relax@budockvean.co.uk for more info.
