Joining Budock Vean Golf Club

The memership year starts on the 1st April and the adult membership fee remains the same at £399.  This may be paid in full or quarterly instalments by direct debit. If you would like to take advantage of attractive discounts on food and drink in the hotel and golf club bar, we ask that a credit supplement of £125 is paid on joining and an account is set up for you at the hotel where you will enjoy a 25% discount on food and drink, and 10% off in the golf shop and spa.

Children from 7 years old can join the Juniors training on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.  Until they are capable of playing on the course the membership fee is just £10 a year.  Once they start playing on the course they will join the Club as Junior Members and will only pay £40 a year until they are 18.  They then become Student Members and pay £125 a year.

If you are interested playing on this beautiful course and joining the very small but friendly Club please contact the Golf Manger, Tony Ramsden, in the golf shop behind the Hotel or call him on 01326 252102.

News from Budock Vean Golf Club - Chairman's Spring Message

With thoughts of Magnolia Drive and Amen Corner in our minds, we are all looking forward to a wonderful Spring season at Budock Vean.  Few can recall a prolonged period of wet weather such as that we have had over recent months and we are due a change in conditions!

Tony and Warren have worked wonders to keep the course open for as many competitions as possible - yet still we have lost a number of events due to weather.  When the course has been open, the standard of play has been good, and Tony should be congratulated on a fantastic win in the Winter League and for giving us all a great demonstration of golfing consistency and a penchant for playing golf in bad weather!

Despite the weather, the juniors have managed a few outings to Killiow and I would like to thank John Craig for his support in keeping our juniors stocked with range balls! This practice has already been rewarded with Joss Bailey winning a recent Cornwall U12's 9 hole assisted category tournament. Well done Joss!

We are also pleased to have taken steps to signing up to “Access Golf”. This initiative will certainly help with encouraging our juniors on the golf course at Budock Vean and it could also encourage new adult golfers too.

Off the course, we have been considering options to improve the starting hut & notice boards; Martin Barlow has kindly agreed to provide us with materials we might need and a “working party” will be arranged for a weekend when we are confident of better weather. Please do keep an eye out for the date - volunteers will be very welcome.

Looking forwards towards the end of this month and into May, all of our member sections have golfing events taking place which are synonymous with Springtime golf. I hope these are all blessed with better weather and provide enjoyment for all those taking part.  Of particular note, we have the inaugural “all club” Bank Holiday Texas Scramble involving our juniors, Ladies, Beavers and Gents. This will be held in the afternoon of Monday 7th May. There will be a BBQ after this event and I will be delighted if you can support by taking part in our junior’s first introduction to competition golf (albeit a very friendly format)!

I look forward to seeing many of you at the club and would like to wish you all a very happy, successful, warm and dry Spring golfing season.

Best Regards, Piran, BVGC Captain

Secretary's Message - 2nd June 2018

In the Men’s Monthly Medal at Budock Vean, Geoff Mills ran out the victor with some fine golf to post a net 65.  There were 5 players on net 68 but in runner-up spot on countback was Ashley Jackson and third was Steve Penrose.  In a Seniors Stableford event, just 3 points covered the top 8 players.  Winning was Robert Johnson with 41 pts on countback from Roger Mildren and in third spot was Andrew Varney with 40 pts.  On a rain affected Wednesday, the Ladies managed a 9-hole qualifier which was won by Mo Salomé with 22pts.
