Budock Vean Hotel Golf & Country Club General Membership Rules   

1. Welcome to the Budock Vean Golf and Country Club (the “Club”). Your Membership, depending on its type, gives you the right to use the golf course, the swimming pool, hot tub and sauna, the tennis courts, as well as access to other hotel facilities such as the bars, restaurants, lounges, conservatory, terrace and the Natural Health Spa.

2. The Budock Vean Hotel Limited (the “Hotel”) would like to remind all Members of the Golf and Country Club Rules (the “Rules”), which are set out below and which also include all the public notices displayed around the Hotel, which are there to ensure everyone can enjoy the use of our facilities safely, whilst behaving in an appropriate manner, respectful of other users. The Rules in this first section entitled “General Membership Rules” apply to all types of Membership. Please find specific sections detailing conditions of Membership relating to the Country Club Membership and the Golf Club Membership. Membership of both Golf and Country Club are subject to all the sections of the Club’s Rules.

3. Membership is valid from 1st April each year to 31st March of the following year.

4. There is no joining fee to join the Club. To join the Club and for each year of Membership, Members are required to pay the annual subscription and have the option to also pay a credit supplement. The credit supplement is non-refundable and may be used against the purchase of goods and services available in the Hotel. These include for example items from the golf shop, Natural Health Spa treatments, dinner in the restaurant and drinks in the bar, all of which are discounted for Members. Members are required to pay their annual subscription and credit supplement by the 1st April each year in order to rejoin and be eligible for the Members’ discounts for the new Membership year.

5. By joining the Club as described in paragraph three above, all Members are deemed to have accepted and agreed to abide by the Club Rules.

6. All Members who have a credit account should expect to receive a monthly invoice/account statement. The invoice will state whether the account is in credit or not and by what amount. Amounts shown on the invoice will be net of the appropriate discount. Any accounts not settled within 30 days of issue of the invoice will lose the Members’ discounts and settlement will be required for the full, non-discounted amount. The Hotel reserves the right to terminate Membership for any Member who does not pay outstanding invoices.

7. Where a Member brings a guest(s) to use the facilities of the Hotel, the Members are responsible for the behaviour of their guest(s). The Hotel reserves the right to terminate Membership, without reimbursement, if the Member’s guest(s) breaches any of the Rules of the Club.

8. The Hotel reserves the right to refuse entry or ask a Member to leave in the event of any misbehaviour.

9. The Hotel reserves the right to limit the number of daily guests and weekly members introduced by any individual Member.

10. The Hotel reserves the right not to renew Junior Membership.

11. All Members are required to provide their vehicle registration when joining the Club or renewing annual Membership.

12. Membership does not entitle Members to use the Hotel snooker room.

13. All Members should access the Hotel facilities for which they have a Membership via the front entrance gate of the Hotel and down the front drive to the various car parks available. Any Members who believe they have a right of way, either stated in their property deeds or otherwise, to access any part of the Hotel grounds and property via the tennis court gate, the lower “Trestenor” gate, the 7th fairway gate or any other access point are reminded that it is a condition of Membership that they notify the Hotel of this right of way in writing, if they have not already done so. Any Members who believe they have right of way are also required to show their deeds or other documentary evidence in order to verify the claim if requested to do so by the Hotel. Any Member with an established right of way is requested to keep to the right of way stipulated in their property deeds.

14. All Members are reminded that they are not entitled to bring dogs onto any part of the Hotel property and grounds. Any Members who believe they have right of way for walking a dog stipulated in their property deeds or otherwise should notify the Hotel in writing, if they have not already done so. They are also required to show their deeds or other documentary evidence in order to verify the claim if requested to do so by the Hotel.

15. The Hotel shall determine who shall be Members of the Club and the amount of the annual subscription and annual credit supplement. Members will be entitled to renew Membership each year at the invitation of the Hotel. The Hotel shall set the limit on the number of Members at any one time and reserves the right to reduce the number of Members in the Club if it deems it necessary. In such a case, the Hotel will provide a minimum three months’ notice and will refund to the Member any outstanding credit and the remaining portion of the annual subscription on a pro-rata basis.

16. The Hotel reserves the right to terminate the Membership of any Member, where the Member is deemed by the Hotel to have breached any of the Club Rules. The Hotel will refund to the Member any outstanding credit and the remaining portion of the annual subscription on a pro-rata basis, unless the cause of termination results in the Hotel incurring cost. In such a case, the Hotel reserves the right to retain all fees and credits to set against any costs incurred.

17. The Hotel reserves the right to terminate the Membership of any Member without notice, where the Member is deemed by the Hotel to have acted or behaved in a way, which is not in the interests of the Hotel or its resident guests or staff or the Golf and Country Club or other Members or the shareholders of the Hotel. The Hotel will refund to the Member any outstanding credit and the remaining portion of the annual subscription on a pro-rata basis, unless the cause of termination results in the Hotel incurring cost. In such a case, the Hotel reserves the right to retain all fees and credits to set against any costs incurred.

18. The Hotel reserves the right to amend these Rules from time to time.

19. The Membership discounts for food and drink of 20% do not apply where the Member has a party or group of more than 6 guests, where the guests are non-members. In the case of a member wishing to book the hotel for any type of function (lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, wedding, conference etc.), where the group is greater than 6, at the time of booking, the member is first required to notify the hotel of whether any members of their group are members or not.

In the case of a group of more than 6 people (who are not members), then a maximum discount of 10% applies to the whole party. Membership discounts only apply to guests who are accompanied by the Member and where the invoice is settled on the Member’s account. Furthermore, the Hotel reserves the right to not apply the 20% food discount to special occasions such as, but not limited to, Mothers’ Day and Easter Sunday lunches, and Christmas and New Year lunches and dinners.

In the case of the members annual dinner dance, a discounted, special per head dinner price is provided and the members 20% food discount cannot be then also set against that.

In the case of a function (lunch, dinner etc.), where a member is hosting the event and all the guests are also members of the Club, the 20% discount will apply.

In the case of a function, where a member is hosting and the guests invited are a mixture of members and non-members, then the Hotel will agree a discount with the hosting member which will reflect the make-up of the group.

20. Members are limited in the number of guests they may bring into the Club to use the facilities at any one time. In the case of golf and tennis, the member may be accompanied by a maximum of 3 guests at any one time and swimming by a maximum of 2 guests at any one time.

Budock Vean Hotel Golf Club Membership Rules 

21. Welcome to the Budock Vean Hotel Golf Club (the “Club”). Your Membership gives you access to the Golf Course, shop, changing rooms, as well as the hotel’s bars, restaurants, lounges, conservatory, terrace and the Natural Health Spa.

22. Membership is valid from 1st April each year to 31st March of the following year. Budock Vean Hotel Ltd (the “Hotel”) reserves the right to close the course in part or in its entirety to Members for Hotel events or to protect the condition of the course or for refurbishment work.

23. Members inviting guests to play must pay the appropriate fee before going to the 1st tee. Payment must be made at the Hotel reception if the golf shop is closed. The Hotel reserves the right to decline use of the course to Members’ guests at any time, in particular, if the course is deemed to be too busy.

24.For the enjoyment and safety of all players, Members are expected to play golf according to the established Rules and etiquette of golf as stipulated by the Royal and Ancient. Members are also required to adhere to any special, permanent or temporary local, Club and Hotel Rules as specified on Club, Course and Hotel notice boards and on the Budock Vean card of the course and in the Club fixture list. In particular, all Members are asked to play quickly and, where appropriate, let others through. Practice from fairways and on greens is not allowed. Please repair pitch-marks, replace divots, and rake bunkers. Players should not trespass on private land to retrieve golf balls.

25. Members are required to observe the correct dress code, including specialist golf footwear, when playing golf, e.g. no jeans, t-shirts, torn off shorts etc.

26. Members are required to ensure that their Membership tag/sticker is attached to their golf bag and clearly visible at all times. Members are also required to ensure that their guests display their green fee tags on their bags at all times.

27. The Hotel accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the loss of any personal belongings or valuables nor does the Hotel accept any responsibility or liability for any personal injury or illness however occasioned whilst using the Hotel facilities. The Hotel further does not accept any responsibility or liability for damage to cars parked in the golfers’ gar park, which is located along the boundary of the third fairway. Cars are parked in all the Hotel car parks entirely at the owner’s risk.

28. The Members’ Guest Fees only apply to guests of Members of the Golf Club (and not to guests of Country Club Only Members, Weekly Members, Hotel residents or anybody else).

29. Golf Club Members wishing to introduce guests on the discounted Members’ Guest Fee, must be present with their guests when they are on the Hotel premises.

30. Members are not permitted to bring dogs onto the golf course or onto any part of the hotel grounds, without formal written permission of the Hotel.

31. The maximum reserved tee off time for all Club events will be 48 minutes.

32. All Beavers’ matches are to be played on a Tuesday morning, except in some cases as agreed with the Hotel, where they may be played later in the day on a Tuesday.

33. There will be no more than one home match per month for both Ladies and Beavers sections.

34. Any morning matches requiring a lunch afterwards are to be timed to ensure that players sit down to eat not later than 1:30pm. Notice of cancellation is required by the Hotel for any morning matches as early as possible but by 8:40am at the very latest on the morning of the match.

35. Any afternoon matches requiring an evening meal afterwards are to be timed to ensure that players sit down to eat not later than 5:30pm. Notice of cancellation is required by the Hotel for any afternoon matches as early as possible but by 12:00 midday at the very latest on the day of the match.

36. For any function where the Hotel does not receive notification of cancellation prior to the times stipulated in the Club Rules, the Hotel reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the published tariff price for the meal per person.

37. The Hotel reserves the right to veto any club official proposed by the Club, including but not limited to the President, Secretary and both Men’s and Ladies’ Captains.

38. The Hotel reserves the right to amend these Rules from time to time as it sees fit.

Budock Vean Hotel Active Country Club Membership Rules

39. Welcome to the Budock Vean Country Club (the “Club”). Your Membership gives you access to the heated, indoor swimming pool, the sauna, hot tub and the two all-weather tennis courts, as well as the hotel’s bars, restaurants, lounges, conservatory, terrace and the Natural Health Spa.  The Budock Vean Hotel (the “Hotel”) would like to remind all Members of the Country Club Rules, which are set out below:

40. Membership is valid from the 1st April each year until 31st March of the following year. The Hotel reserves the right to close the facilities in January when the Hotel is closed or at other times for refurbishment work.

41. Members must sign the register each time they visit and have their Membership cards available to show members of the Hotel staff if requested to do so. Members must also sign in all guests and pay the appropriate fee (see attached) at the Hotel reception before using the facilities. Members will be held responsible for any guests’ fees not paid and the Hotel will add any unpaid fees to the Members account.

42. Members should check the pool notice board, located in the corridor approaching the pool, concerning matters, which may affect the availability of the facilities.

43. Swimming pool opening times: The pool will be open for Members and hotel guests from 7:00am to 10:00pm. For Member’s guests and non-Members, the swimming pool is open from 8:00am until 10:00pm each day.

44. In the interests of safety, the Hotel would kindly ask all Members to familiarise themselves with the profile of the pool, making particular note of the depths and the steepness of the gradient between shallow and deep ends, and to ensure they draw this to the attention of their guests. All bathers should take note of the notices in the changing rooms and pool area, which show the pool profile and which stipulate the main Rules for bathers. The Hotel would strongly recommend that all parents ensure their children are aware of the depths and dimensions of the swimming pool, which are as follows: Depth - The shallow end starts at 1 metre gradually deepening to 1.3 metres. Please note that the pool floor then levels out at 1.3 metres and remains at this depth until the end of the pool. The length is 15 metres and width, 8 metres.

45. The Hotel swimming pool, hot tub and sauna are unsupervised. For the safety of all swimmers, we would kindly ask all Members to comply with the Government safety Rules requiring that all children are supervised by an adult swimmer at all times.

46. The Hotel would kindly ask all Members, prior to use, to read the important safety notices for use of the sauna and the hot tub. These notices are in prominent positions in front of each of these facilities.

47. The Hotel would ask all Members and their guests to please make sure that they and their children are aware of the swimming pool Rules, which are posted on entry to the Swimming Pool. In particular:
a) Inflatables, balls, flippers, snorkels etc. or any other devices likely to cause harm, injury or disturbance to bathers are strictly prohibited in the pool area.
b) Running around the perimeter of the pool, jumping or diving in the pool or any other similar activity likely to cause harm, injury or disturbance to bathers are strictly prohibited in the pool area.
c) Drinks, glasses and other breakable objects are not allowed in the pool area. No pets are allowed. The pool area is strictly a no smoking area. Swimming costumes must be worn at all times. No bathers may enter the pool with open wounds, plasters or skin conditions. Life belts are for emergency use only.

48. The Swimming Pool is open to our guests and members from 07:00am -10.00pm daily.  The pool is also open to the general public from 8.00am to 10.00pm. Children under 16 are not allowed in the pool after 12 noon Friday to Sunday, unless staying at Budock Vean or a Member.

49. The Hotel accepts no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the loss of any personal belongings or valuables nor does the Hotel accept any responsibility or liability for any personal injury or illness however occasioned whilst using the Hotel swimming pool and related facilities. Cars are parked on the Hotel property entirely at the owner’s risk.

50. Any non-Member, whether the guest of a Member or an independent, wishing to use the swimming pool or tennis courts more than once in any seven-day period, must join as a weekly Member of the Country Club. The *fee must be paid at the start of the week.

51. The Members’ guest fees only apply to guests of annual Country Club Members (and not to guests of golf only Members, weekly Members, Hotel residents or anybody else).

52. Country Club Members wishing to introduce guests on the discounted Members’ guest fee, must be present with their guests when they are on the Hotel premises. (This applies only to the first day for weekly Members).

53. Access to the swimming pool is strictly by way of the external access via the Country Club Members’ Entrance, not by the front door of the Hotel unless prior to 8:00am. Access to the pool area via the French doors, which open onto the Hotel gardens, is strictly prohibited to Members, Members’ guests or any other non-Member. When pressing the buzzer to access the pool, please provide your name and Membership number.

54. Country Club Members are required to ensure that the swimming pool access door is kept locked at all times. Members are requested not to use the double fire doors next to their entrance door.

55. Members are required to observe the correct dress code when playing tennis, e.g. no torn off shorts or bikinis etc. Whites are preferred.

56. Members are required to ensure that the tennis courts are left shut and locked after play and the keys are returned immediately to either the golf shop or the Hotel reception.

57. All members are strongly recommended not to swim alone. If any member does find that they do have to swim alone, they are required to notify the main hotel reception that they are a lone swimmer prior to entering the pool. This can be done by using the red phone in the pool hall and dialing zero.

58. The Hotel reserves the right to amend these Rules from time to time as it sees fit.
