Relax by the River
There's nothing better than sitting and watching life on the river from our private cove. Pack a book or a picnic and take a short stroll down through the garden. It's a real sun trap and there's loungers for you to relax on.
River Activities
From our private quay you can explore the river with Helford River Cruises aboard our 19 foot open boat, the Hannah Molly.
Koru Kayaking run a guided Frenchman's Creek tour direct from our foreshore by kayak or paddleboard. You'll find out heaps of fascinating facts on both trips.
The Gardens
The Budock Vean gardens are beautiful and extend to almost 32 acres, incorporating woodland and the valley gardens and ponds.
Since 2003, the gardens have been managed organically. Over 350,000 new plants have been introduced, most of which were propagated on site in the nursery. The design is based on a mix of the classic Cornish garden landscape and the Cornish country landscape, with inspiration taken from many of the great Cornish gardens as well as elements of the surrounding countryside including tin mining and Neolithic areas.
Wildlife
With 65 acres of private grounds, Budock Vean is a haven for wildlife. There are cheeky robins who will visit you while dining on the terrace and more squirrels running up and down the trees than we can count! Listen out for birdsong while walking down to our cove and look out for our latest resident - a rather handsome buzzard. We've even had trout swim upstream to spawn in our ponds.
