Designed by five-time Open Champion James Braid in the 1920s, Budock Vean’s 9-hole/18-tee golf course sits in mature parkland near the Helford River in Cornwall.

The course
James Braid’s association with Budock Vean places the course within a distinguished legacy of British golf design. A five-time Open Champion and one of the most influential course architects of the early 20th century, Braid was responsible for shaping or remodelling over 200 courses across the UK, including iconic venues such as Gleneagles and Carnoustie.
At Budock Vean, his original 1920s vision, set within mature parkland and still evident today, offers a classic example of his enduring design philosophy, giving players the opportunity to experience a course shaped by one of golf’s true greats.
Budock Vean Golf Course was originally planned as an 18-hole layout. Following the sale of part of the land in the 1920s, the course became a 9-hole/18-tee layout, now often regarded as one of the finest 9-hole courses in Cornwall.
