At Budock Vean we have an enviable reputation for serving fantastic food all year round, and this goes into overdrive at our special spring and autumn Gourmet weekends. These have been successfully running for over 20 years and these fabulously foodie weekends are a chance for our chefs, led by Head Chef Darren Kelly, who has been part of the Budock Vean family for 25 years, to really show off their skills.
Our March 2020 Gourmet weekend was the first to be hosted in the Hotel’s newly refurbished restaurant. This wonderfully grand room, with period features and views over the gardens, is an elegant yet comfortable space to enjoy all our Gourmet weekends have to offer. Due to social distancing measures, the November Gourmet Weekend will also use our new events space for seating to ensure everyone has enough room.
Our chefs plan menus that shine a light on Cornish produce. Working with local suppliers and the finest seasonally available ingredients, they will craft five course meals for Friday and Saturday evening using a variety of cooking styles to produce something that really is quite special.
Each course is accompanied by specially selected wines from our friends at North Coast Wines. The wines have been specifically chosen to be enjoyed alongside the flavours of the food and the evening will include some fun, educational and fascinating wine facts … expect to hear more about the origins, flavours and, perhaps, the vines.
Budock Vean’s Gourmet weekends are curated with great care and attention. Of course you can expect wonderful food and wine, but you can also expect a really friendly, relaxed and happy atmosphere where you can enjoy a weekend away in South Cornwall.
And it’s not just about the food, your weekend gives you chance to try out the hotel’s parkland golf course, explore the gardens and ground that spill down through wooded paths to the Helford River. Or perhaps enjoy a walk along the coastal footpaths, or an adventurous kayak adventure to discover Frenchman’s Creek. Either way, there’s lots to do to build up an appetite (or walk off a spot of overindulgence!).
