Meet the team: A Q&A with Nadia

We sat down with Nadia, our Spa Manager, to talk all things wellness, from her favourite treatments to her top tips for truly unwinding. Think of this as your inside scoop to spa time, done right.

What drew you to the spa industry?

I’ve always been passionate about wellbeing and helping people feel their best, both physically and mentally. What drew me to the spa industry was the opportunity to create meaningful experiences where guests can truly relax, reset, and reconnect with themselves.

Over time, that passion has grown into a love for delivering high standards of care, working with beautiful environments, and being part of a team that prioritises both luxury and genuine wellness. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact a spa experience can have on someone’s day, or even their overall wellbeing.

What makes Budock Vean's Spa special?

What makes Budock Vean’s Spa truly special is its unique sense of tranquillity and connection to nature. Nestled in such a beautiful, peaceful setting, it offers guests a chance to completely switch off and unwind away from the pace of everyday life.

We pride ourselves on creating a personalised experience for every guest, combining high-quality treatments with genuine care and attention. Using GAIA Skincare also allows us to bring a holistic approach to wellbeing, enhancing both the physical and emotional benefits of each treatment.

It’s that combination of natural surroundings, thoughtful service, and a focus on true relaxation that makes the spa experience so memorable.

How do you make guests feel relaxed and cared for?

For me, it’s all about the small details and creating a truly personalised experience. From the moment a guest arrives, we take the time to understand their needs and how they’re feeling, so we can tailor their visit to them.

Creating a calm, welcoming environment is key, along with a team that genuinely cares and takes pride in what they do. Whether it’s through thoughtful touches, attentive service, or the use of nurturing treatments like GAIA Skincare, we aim to help every guest feel completely at ease.

Ultimately, it’s about making each person feel valued, listened to, and able to fully relax and enjoy their time with us.

What's your favourite GAIA treatment and why?

My favourite GAIA treatment has to be the GAIA Crystal Therapy. It’s such a unique and deeply calming experience that goes beyond a traditional treatment, working on both physical relaxation and emotional balance.

What I love most is how it incorporates the energy of crystals alongside soothing massage techniques, creating a truly holistic experience. Each treatment feels very personal and intuitive, allowing guests to fully switch off and reconnect with themselves.

What wellness trends are you excited about?

I’m really excited to see wellness becoming more personalised and truly focused on long-term wellbeing rather than quick fixes. Guests are now looking for experiences that are tailored to them, whether that’s through bespoke treatments, mindful rituals, or products that support their individual needs.

There’s also a growing focus on holistic wellness, where mental health, relaxation, and emotional balance are just as important as physical results. Practices like mindfulness, better sleep, and creating space to truly switch off are becoming a key part of the spa experience.

I also love the return to more natural and authentic experiences, such as thermal therapies, connecting with nature, and slower, more meaningful wellness journeys. It really aligns with what guests are looking for today: not just a treatment, but a lasting sense of wellbeing.

How do you fit self-care into your schedule?

As a spa manager, it can be easy to put everyone else first, but I’ve learned that prioritising my own self-care actually helps me care better for others. I make it a point to carve out small moments each day, whether that’s a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, a walk in nature, or a short meditation.

I also love to treat myself to spa treatments when I can, which helps me recharge both physically and mentally. It’s all about consistency and making self-care a non-negotiable part of my routine, even on busy days.

What do you do when you're not at the spa? (in your spare time)

When I’m not at the spa, I love spending time outdoors,  going for walks in our beautiful Cornwall, camping, or visiting the beach, where I feel truly recharged and connected to nature.

Family and friends are really important to me, and I enjoy spending quality time with them. These moments outside of work help me feel balanced and refreshed, so I can bring more energy, calm, and focus to every guest experience at the spa.

If you could design your dream spa treatment, what would it be?

A treatment inspired by Cornwall’s coast, combining cooling marine-inspired wraps with GAIA Skincare products, and light massage movements that mimic the ebb and flow of the tide. Gentle salt scrubs and calming aromatherapy would restore skin and mind, while a final meditative moment by the beach (or with ocean sounds indoors) would leave guests feeling refreshed and radiant.

Top wellness tip?

My top wellness tip is to make small, consistent moments of self-care a daily habit. Even just a short walk in nature, a mindful breath, or a few minutes of quiet reflection can make a huge difference to both your physical and mental wellbeing.

I also encourage listening to your body, rest when you need it, nourish yourself with care, and don’t feel guilty about prioritising your own wellbeing. Consistency and awareness are what really make wellness a lifestyle rather than a one-off treat.

Favourite moment or memory at Budock Vean's Spa?

One of my favourite memories at Budock Vean’s Spa is seeing a guest leave completely transformed after a day of treatments, relaxed, smiling, and full of energy. Moments like that really remind me why I love what I do.

I also cherish the quieter, everyday moments: walking through the spa early in the morning, enjoying the calm atmosphere, seeing the team prepare treatments with care, or sharing a laugh with colleagues. Those little moments of connection and calm make the spa feel like a second home.
