Golfers

Welcome to the Golf Club at Budock Vean, where as a resident of the hotel you are entitled to enjoy complimentary golf throughout your stay. We believe we have a course both challenging and enjoyable, for accomplished and novice golfers alike.

We want to ensure you enjoy your golf at Budock Vean and hope that the following information and guidelines will prove beneficial.

Getting Registered
When you have settled in, please take the time to register yourself at the Golf and Leisure Shop where you will be given an identification tag. We would ask you to have this tag attached to your golf bag at all times.

The Golf Shop can be found opposite the lift on the Lower Ground Floor of the ‘New Wing’.

Our Golf Manager , Tony Ramsden , will be pleased to help you with any questions you may have.

Sport and Leisure Shop Opening Times
You will find a range of competitively priced sport and leisure clothing and equipment in the Sport and Leisure Shop which is normally open daily from 8:30am to approximately 6:00pm.

Golf Bag Room and Complimentary Lockers
On your arrival, your golf clubs will be taken to the Golf Bag Room, which is located next to the Golf Shop. Please phone ext.102 or visit the Golf Shop to reserve a locker (subject to availability) in exchange for a refundable £5 key deposit.

Electric sockets are available for battery charging on a complimentary basis.

The Locker Room is normally open daily from 7:00am until dusk. Guest requiring access during the night should contact the duty Porter.

Tee Times
For the benefit of all golfers at Budock Vean, it is our policy to limit the local membership to a level, which normally avoids players having to wait very long for a tee time. As a hotel resident you have priority teeing off times from 9.30am to 10.30am, every day except Sunday. (If you would like to book a particular tee time between 9.30am and 10.30am on a Sunday, we recommend that you book it as far in advance as possible)

To be sure of playing at a specific time, we recommend that you reserve your time at the Golf Shop or by phoning ext.102 from your room.

In any event, it is worth checking with the Golf Shop for tee time availability and whether any events are planned before you commence play.

3 & 4 Balls
3 and 4 balls are allowed at the following times during the period Monday to Saturday:

  • Tuesday mornings only.
  • Any other day after 12:00 mid-day.
  • Any day in the early morning as long as the first 9 holes are completed strictly by 9:30am.
  • On Sundays: 3 Balls any time, 4 balls after 10.30am only.

Beginners & Non-Handicap Players
We welcome beginners and new players to Budock Vean and ask that you make yourself known to Tony Ramsden at the Golf Shop before you start playing. Tony will explain the local rules and hazards to help you on your way.

For reasons of safety and in consideration of other players, it is important that new players are accompanied by a handicap golfer and play when the course is quieter; which is most afternoons.

Please allow those more accomplished to play through.

Tuition and equipment hire can be arranged at the Sport and Leisure Shop. Golf Clubs, bags, shoes, trolley and buggies are all available for hire.

Golf Tuition & Golf Schools
We would be delighted to organise golf lessons for you during your stay. Please see Tony Ramsden to make arrangements for you. Also available are the ‘David Short Golf Schools’. Please ask for further details in the Shop or at the hotel Reception.

Dress Code
The dress code for golf is as for most other clubs; smart casual clothes.

Jeans, track suits, shell suits, sleeveless or collarless shirts and tee shirts with ‘pop’ logos are not permitted. Trousers must not be tucked into socks. Shorts must be worn with knee length or sports socks.

Local Rules
We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the local rules, which are posted on the notice board outside the Golf Shop. In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the “Out of Bounds” on the 3 rd/12 th, 5 th/14 th and 7 th/16 th. They are there for safety reasons, so we would request that you do not play from “Out of Bounds”.

Club & Hotel Residents’ Competitions
Hotel guests are automatically made Temporary Members of Budock Vean Golf Club for the period of their stay and as such are invited to enter all competitions. A recent handicap certificate will be requested.

Temporary Members are not eligible to be awarded Club trophies, but alternative prizes will be awarded in the event of their winning a competition.

Club competitions are held on most Sundays (for men) and Wednesdays (for ladies) throughout the year, some being all day events and others starting at lunchtime.

Please check the Club notice boards and add your name and handicap to whichever competition you wish to enter.

Each Tuesday and Friday throughout the year, subject to sufficient interest, Tony Ramsden organises a friendly golf competition for hotel residents. There is usually one fun competition, such as a Texas Scramble, and one Stableford each week. This is a great way to meet other guests who play golf and enjoy some friendly competition.

Concessionary Rates at Other Local Golf Course
Concessionary rate vouchers are available for hotel residents from the Golf Shop for local courses including:
Truro, Falmouth, Lanhydrock, Lostwithiel, Mullion and West Cornwall.

Insurance
If you do not already have a policy to cover you against injury or damage to third parties, you may wish to obtain cover via us though Golfguard Limited. The standard premium is 50 pence per person per round and other options are available. Cover can be arranged by signing the necessary paperwork in the Golf Shop.

Thank you for sticking with us through this set of guidelines. We do hope that they will be of benefit in ensuring that you enjoy your golf at Budock Vean.
