In Summary:
From Truro take the A39 to Falmouth. On the A39 about 4 miles before Falmouth you will pick up the brown tourist information road-signs for Glendurgan and Trebah gardens.
Follow these signs through Mawnan Smith and continue past Glendurgan and Trebah Gardens.
After a further ½ mile you will find the entrance to Budock Vean.
In Detail:
From London, the M3/A303 route to Exeter includes some main road sections with only one lane in each direction, but it is about 40 miles shorter than the all-motorway M4/M5 route via Bristol. (N.B. The M3/A303 route can be slower, especially on Saturdays and Bank holidays in high season).
- Exit the M5 at junction 31, sign-posted for BODMIN A30
- Stay on the A30 for about 80 miles following signs for TRURO
- Take the A39 to TRURO at the Mitchell roundabout (next to the wind-farm)
- After 5½ miles, turn right at the traffic lights to TRURO, then follow the signs for the A39 for FALMOUTH
- Continue on the A39 Truro bypass, through two roundabouts to the top of the hill where there is a double mini-roundabout. Turn left here onto the A39 to FALMOUTH
- Continue along the A39 going straight across the next 3 roundabouts
- After about 5 miles you will pass the Norway Inn pub on your right hand side.
- Continue for about 2 miles from the Norway Inn and go straight across the double mini-roundabout, still following the A39 to FALMOUTH
- 1 mile after this is another double mini-roundabout named 'Treliever'. Take the first exit from the second mini-roundabout, continuing on the A39 for FALMOUTH
- Stay on the A39 for ½ mile to the 'Kernick' roundabout, opposite Asda. Leave the A39 here by turning right, sign posted to MABE BURNTHOUSE, MAWNAN SMITH and CONSTANTINE
- Go up the hill about 500 yards to the crossroads where you turn left into Church Road for MAWNAN SMITH.
- After 1½ miles you come to another crossroads. Go straight across, following signs for MAWNAN SMITH which is just over 2 miles from here.
- Drive straight through Mawnan Smith leaving the Red Lion pub on your left-hand side. Go past Glendurgan and Trebah Gardens, then after another ½ mile, past the turnoff to Helford Passage, the entrance to Budock Vean will be seen on the left hand side.
